Four years ago, I quit my corporate job of two years to pursue my vision of Occipital Media. Reflecting on when I first started, I realize now, I experience a profound passion for the connection the avenue that marketing offers business owners. To me, crafting the right message has the potential of enhancing the community supporting a brand. When you invest in your community, you are investing in yourself. You are investing in your dream and the dream of others.
With any journey comes challenges, the way you react, defines you. This was something that took a few ‘hard lessons learned’ to understand. When working for yourself, you play the role of your biggest cheerleader and your hardest critic simultaneously. Learning to reflect on your failures and carry on is crucial. My initial advice is to surround yourself with a community that upholds an encouraging spirit. To be an entrepreneur, to me, is a lifestyle and having individuals that have a common understanding and challenge me to level up has been extremely powerful.
