I got started into starting my own business in 2014. I didn't go to college after high school I went to Serra High school and barley graduated . I was not every good at it but I was always good at making money for others then for my self. I started getting into the mentality about being an entrepreneur at the age of 22. It all started with multilevel marketing even tho I lost a lot of money it in, I was happy that they would do gatherings about young people like my self were interested in learning a new…
Our children went to preschool together. We knew each other as acquaintances when Janea posted on Facebook about a volunteering experience she had. Ashley saw the post and then decided to join Janea at the next opportunity. We volunteered together through that same organization for about two years until it kind of dissipated. At that point, we had become good friends and often had taken on opportunities to lead some of the events together. We realized we both really wanted to continue to help the communities we had formed relationships with. We wanted to continue to serve others. We decided…
I’ve always had a passion for interior design and decorating. After helping friends and family with their interior decor goals for years, my passion evolved into an official business in February 2019. From the beginning I had client projects lined up, as well as home projects that kept me busy all year. During the first year I was very intentional about educating myself to become more knowledgeable about the industry. I obtained a professional certificate in Interior Design from Temple University, attended a six month Interior Design Coaching program, and attended a few workshops. I was also blessed by a…
In early 2016, the Grupo Resenha California was created. It was formed by a small group of Brazilian friends, and a newcomer from Rio de Janeiro. The group met every month for a ‘Roda de Samba’ - a traditional musical gathering in Brazil. As time passed, an increasing number of people would come, from all over Southern California, to enjoy the music and the festivities that came along with it. Those who came shared, time and time again, how grateful they were for the Samba event. This positive feedback strengthened the band’s commitment to, and gratitude for the Samba, the…
My first show was a Wes Anderson/Quentin Tarantino fan art show hosted by Thumbprint Gallery at BASIC Bar & Pizza Downtown. I used oil paint, and procrastinated hard – the paint was still drying when I dropped the piece off the night of the show. I was so proud though, and had a great group of friends and family come out to support. I’d never felt so much pride in anything before. It was my proudest accomplishment. During that time I was also going through a lot of internal conflict and growth, dealing with anxiety and depression, and was also…
Carrie is the founder of Stated, a marketing consulting firm partnering with small and medium-sized clients to create smarter, insightful, and compelling outreach at every stage of the funnel. Inspired by two entrepreneurial parents, and governed by efficiency and efficacy, she was attracted to the rules of supply and demand and the challenges of everyday business. She received her degrees in economics and MBA and went on to consult locally in San Diego before joining the team at HP. She worked across elements of global integrated marketing before heading up both marketing and education at Nordic Naturals. In the years…
My love for makeup and beauty honestly didn’t start until my sophomore year of high school. I was about to get my braces off and I wanted to go back to school with a subtle new look to compliment my new smile, so I thought I’d try out makeup. I can remember studying YouTube videos for hours! Just trying to learn how to do simple winged eyeliner, so I went to Target and picked out the cheapest but best liquid eyeliner I could find. Let’s face it I was only 15, with minimal money so I had to remember I…
I started as a small 16-year-old with no musical talent. I saw these amazing artists connect with their fans and I wanted to be apart of that. I looked up ways to go on tour with bands. in that, I found music photography. from there I used my dad's old camera and just started asking bands to shoot them. 4 years later I've been on 3 tours and about to go one my 4th with Buddha Trixie supporting The Frights
I’ve always been captivated by the fashion world at a very young age. I started modeling for Fredericks of Hollywood swimwear and an Orange County-based fashion designer at the age of 16 and quickly fell in love with the fashion world. I’d attend award shows and fashion events while finishing up my high school degree at my Charter School. When I was around 18, my family took a sudden move to Montreal, QC causing me to put my modeling on the back burner. During this time, I decided to attend Concordia University for Business management with electives in mechanical engineering.…
I started Palapalooza Podcast in October 2018. We feature a different local musician, producer, engineer or personality every week with an interview and an unplugged acoustic performance. Palapalooza is recorded under a "palapa" or tiki hut in my backyard in El Cajon and is solely audio based. To date, we have released 89 episodes and have featured a few national bands including Unwritten Law, Sprung Monkey, and The Schizophonics as well as many incredible local bands.
