Thanks so much for taking the time to meet with me today! My name is Kendra Muecke from "Kendra & the Bunnies" Music. I am a singer-songwriter, writer, actress, and published author based in Los Angeles, CA. My passion for all things music, art, literature, and film began in my hometown of Houston, TX. At the spry age of 4, I turned to my mom and said, "I want to be a movie-star!" I was serious too! The next week, I began taking classes there, and I immediately fell in love with the stage. In my teen years, I began…
Hey! Just want to first say thank you for this interview. I don't take these things for granted so I really appreciate your time. I come from very humble beginnings. I am a small town boy with a voice and passion to move the world. I was born in Chicago, IL & raised in Rockford, IL by my single mother. Early on in life I struggled with depression and anger as a child. I can honestly say that singing and dancing saved my life. My grandfather was a musician and I spent a-lot of time in his recording studio as…
It all started in Tarzana, CA. I grew up in a great community in Tarzana (a suburb of Los Angeles) and was very fortunate to have a tremendous support system that helped shape me and my trajectory. I grew up on Veloz Ave., and when I decided to leave the corporate world and start a business, I partnered with my brother and we named it The Veloz Group. Amazingly, it has been eight years, filled with too many experiences to list, but each one has helped me grow personally and professionally.
I have always had an interest in music. After high school, I chose to pursue it professionally. A customer at my work recommended that I contact Gwyn Sanborn (vocal coach/good friend.) I went through 2 years of vocal training with her, and always expressed ideas that correlated with production and songwriting. That's when she introduced me to Thomas Barsoe (CEO/Founder of OC Hit Factory). Thomas has taught me many valuable lessons in music, and even knew the financial struggle I was going through. With that, he made it possible for me make music in a professional studio with great quality.…
I began to take an interest in music when I was 6 years old. I played the drums in church for over 12 years and also started to take an interest in singing. Because my dad was a music major in college, he made sure that I always practiced and became the best musician that I could be. As the years went by, I started to pick up on guitar, both electric and acoustic, piano, percussion and all the brass section. When I was in my middle school years, I performed at Disney as the act Simba, from The Lion…
I've known I wanted to work in music for a very long time - music has been the only consistent thing in my life. Just before my senior year in high school, I moved to Los Angeles. I moved for a lot of reasons, but pursuing my career in the music business happened to be one of them. Over the summer, I took a music business class online. I had an excellent professor. I applied to just about every internship I could possibly find. 5 a day for five months. I was thirsty for experience. Five months - that's how…
I Started making music about a little less than a year and a half ago when my friends started a jazz funk band called Stereotype Threat and i wanted to join in but i was skeptical at first and they convinced me to start an instrument and that ended up being the keyboard. I slowly went through the process of learning basic theory but only through jamming and improvisation shoutout to Mariano Camacho and Nate Rinkel amazing musicians seriously taught me everything. After a short time of just messing around we found a gig for ourselves and decided to take…
I always wanted to be a drummer, for whatever reason I never did and started playing guitar when I was 9 years old. It was a passive hobby at first. I took guitar lessons basically just to learn songs and nothing else. The lessons didn't last long. As I got more into music, I would jam in friends garages and be a bit more free with it. I stopped playing guitar when guitar hero came out - I think I was in grade 7 at the time. After about a year of that is when I started looking at music…
Fashion design and becoming a business owner have always been lifelong dreams, but as a Black woman in college in the 1980's, there were very little opportunities in the fashion industry, so I decided to follow my second passion and became a college counselor to help young people to follow their dreams. In 2018, I decided it was my turn and I bought my domain, business licence, and took a trip to the LA fashion district to begin crafting my custom denim designs. It took about a year to complete the samples, logo, website, and to research how to market…
I began performing stand up comedy after signing up for an open mic in my hometown Milwaukee, WI. After 2 1/2 years of performing I decided to move to LA to pursue it as a career. Since arriving to LA I’ve been able to perform at The a World Famous Comedy Store, Hollywood Improv, and the Mayan Theatre, and recently began producing my own monthly comedy show called The Next Show.
