I am a journalist, writer and photographer with a focus on food. My mom is an excellent cook and she instilled a love of food and cooking in both me and my brother growing up. We always had a hot breakfast before school and rarely ate the same dishes for dinner twice. As a kid, I didn't realize what a rare luxury that was. Interesting food and curiosity about cooking were just facts of life, so it wasn't until I became an adult that I recognized a passion for food in myself. I hadn't imagined a career in a creative…
I started modeling/acting/philanthropy at the tender age of 2 for an educational international print campaign that advocates for literacy, which lead me to my first national commercial for Disney. Now, this was a kid’s ultimate dream… Disney! And from that the rest was history! My mom closed her business of 25 years and moved to LA & two weeks in I was auditioning and two months later I booked three paramount gigs in one week… Barbie Moschino commercial, UGG print campaign, & theatrical HBO role on the hit show “Togetherness!” This was the catalyst of my 5 years old Greatness…

My story isn't too different than the typical cliché stories, I suppose. The details doesn't matter because at the end of the day, we all want to escape something; whether it's physical or emotional. Figuring out how to escape in a healthy way is the challenge. I started writing short stories in fourth grade that soon turned into homemade books by the time I was in the 8th grade. I remember wanting to become a meteriologist until I discovered my creative side and that's when I was introduced to poetry. I never imagined publishing my own book. I always wrote…
Peace, I’m LaShonta’ Renée Freeman (born January 2, 1992), known professionally as SAGÉ (formally Shonta’ Renée), and I’m an R&B and Soul singer, songwriter and producer. I was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, and discovered my passion for music at The age of five where I would assimilate artists such as Ella Fitzgerald and Anita Baker by singing along while their songs would be played on the radio or on records at home. I didn’t find my true voice until I started singing in the church choir and knew I had a true gift when I discovered that not…

I was born and raised in a small New England town, on the border of Nee Hampshire and Vermont. While it certainly had societal issues of its own, it was isolated from a lot of the large and pressing issues of today. In an all white, rural country setting, I didn’t see a ton of big issues like racism or homelessness first hand. Struggles looked different. When I came to Atlanta for college, it truly changed my life and how I saw things. Issues like institutionalized racism , gentrification, and police brutality became real for me. And it sparked a…
I was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. In 1983, I graduated from the University of Detroit with a BS in Chemistry and in 1987, graduated from St. Louis University School of Medicine. I moved to Atlanta in 1987 for residency at Emory University School of Medicine and fell in love with the South. Painting and creating have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Being entirely self-taught, my journey to the present has had glories, bumps, pauses and lengthy stalls. In the early ‘90s, I read Betty Edward’s Drawing on the Right Side…
I started cosplaying in 2015. I had just quit a LARP and was looking for something to fill the void. I have always loved wearing and making medieval armor and props so when my then girlfriend told me about cosplay I was naturally curious. My first cosplay was a version of my dark knight from the larp I was playing and well I just built it from there.
I’ve wanted to be a pastor, ever since I was a little kid. I always thought it would be amazing to have a job where I get to go around telling people how much Jesus loves them. Today, that’s exactly what I get to do for a living (along with a few other responsibilities that come with starting a new church from scratch in the middle of a major city.) Our church body has a fantastic training system for our pastors, which includes four years of college and four years of Seminary, with one of those seminary years being a…
